- ill let someone else takcle on this subject i dont have no expierence
- whatsoever with the dsvd modem.but i would easily reccomend the dsvd
- or courier models over the regular sportster modems..
-
- keep in mind at this time that the courier has no provisions for voice,
- no answering machine stuff, no dsvd , no voice whatsoever, if you buy
- a courier wanting voice, its gunna be a gamble if they are ever going
- to put it in or not.. usr keeps totally silent until either the firmware
- is available, announced, or someone gets a hold of beta trials.
-
- i think the odds are slim that the courier ever getting voice, but i
- faintly remember saying the same thing with caller id.. and couriers
- do caller id now.. heh

-
- sorta.. but most modems in the price range of a courier/sportster solution
- either have flash rom but dont change the datapump or have no flash rom
- whatsoever

-
- dont stress on it.. flash rom is really easy.. downloading code updates
- from us robotics is a lot easier then waiting for us robotics to ship you
- sportster chips.. which can take an awefully loooooong time to get to you!
-
- >5. Do the upgrade chips on the Sportsters update the datapump as well?
- >
- yes.. and as mentioned before in the price range, sportster is prolly
- the only of a few modems that have a programmable dsp, most of the
- others do not (thats the primary reason why usr is 33.6 and others
- like supra, cardinal, hayes, etc are 28.8).
